Collecting banks and payment providers
Fourteen banks and six payment service providers are accredited to collect State revenue. Any of them will accept a Service payment reference at any branch in Nigeria and settle it to the State treasury single account.
What accreditation means
An accredited collecting bank has signed a collection agreement with the Service and the Ministry of Finance, is integrated with the payment reference system, and settles collections to the State treasury single account on the agreed cycle. It receives a commission fixed by the agreement — it does not charge the taxpayer for accepting a State payment.
Accreditation is reviewed annually against settlement performance, reconciliation accuracy and complaint volume. A bank that settles late, misapplies references or is the subject of repeated taxpayer complaints is put on notice and may be removed from the list. The list below is current; always check it before making a large payment through a bank you have not used for State revenue before.
A bank that is not on this list cannot collect State revenue. If a bank tells you it can accept a payment on the Service’s behalf and it does not appear here, do not pay — the payment will not reach the treasury and you will remain liable.
Accredited collecting banks
Branch counts are those within the State; a payment reference may be settled at any branch of these banks anywhere in Nigeria.

What a bank may and may not do
- It may accept a payment against a valid Service payment reference, at any branch.
- It may issue a teller slip in addition to the electronic receipt — but the slip is not the receipt.
- It must settle collections to the treasury single account on the agreed cycle.
- It may not charge you a fee for accepting a State revenue payment.
- It may not accept a payment for State revenue without a payment reference.
- It may not vary the amount shown against the reference.
- It may not advise you to pay into any account other than the one the reference resolves to.
Report a bank problem
If a branch refuses a valid payment reference, charges you a fee, or fails to produce an electronic receipt, report it to the Director of Collection & Accounts with the branch name, the date, the reference and the teller number if you have it.
Repeated complaints against a branch are raised with the bank’s public sector desk and, where unresolved, with the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee at the annual accreditation review.
Verify your receipt
Whichever channel you used, the receipt number is what proves payment.
